Rancho Las Lomas Wedding party and an after party

Janet and Bryan decided to go with Michael from Behind the DJ Booth after a friend recommended him for their destination wedding. The catch? Janet and Bryan were planning their southern California wedding from their home in New Orleans.

They held their wedding at El Teatro open air theater in Rancho Las Lomas, Orange County, California. It was a black tie affair with a summer twist. The venue was stunning and Michael did an incredible job of making sure that the party started at the reception. Initially Janet and Bryan were nervous about planning the wedding states away but Michael put them at ease with every FaceTime meeting.

One of the aspects of Behind the DJ Booth that sets them apart from the competition is their ability to cater to out of town couples. Their clear and responsive communication, professionalism, and assurance to accommodate each couples’ needs makes deciding to work with Behind the DJ Booth an inevitable decision.

With this particular wedding since the bride, groom, and so many of their guests were from out of town they continued the party at an indoor location, the Grand Salon. Michael made sure to adjust the mood of the music from wedding reception to an after party club feel, complete with hip hop trap music to EDM. The newlyweds partied long into the night with their friends, family, and co-workers from all across the nation.

If you’re looking for a DJ to cater to the experience you’re wanting for your guests while delivering superior customer service and quality then contact Michael with Behind the DJ Booth for your next event or wedding at www.behindthedjbooth.com/contact/. Serving Orange County, CA, all of Southern California, and open to travel.

**DJ Tip - If you have a destination wedding, or a lot of out of town guests, considering extending the reception or an after party is a great way to continue celebrating the big day.**

Industrial Chic Pop Funk Wedding

When Chelsea, the bride, had to decide on a DJ she knew it would be Michael. She works at SkyBox Event Productions and had worked with him on several weddings. He knew what a compliment it was to be selected as their DJ since she, as a wedding professional herself, had met and worked with so many.

As they went about planning their destination wedding in San Diego at The Brick at Liberty Station Sean and Chelsea envisioned a hip, creative, and fun wedding. When they discussed the music they both entrusted Michael with the list. They knew he wouldn’t disappoint since Chelsea had worked with him so much before. They only wanted to be sure that their guests had the time of their life and the opportunity to dance to their hearts’ content.

As Michael and his associate DJ, Matthew, drove from Orange County to San Diego Sean called to see if they could add some Taylor Swift songs because he heard the bridal party singing to them earlier that day. Michael, never one to disappoint, made sure the last minute request was executed.

SkyBox Event Productions transformed the venue to reflect the personalities of Chelsea and Sean and Michael added to that ambiance by choosing a wide range of music ranging from Funk, 90’s Hip-hop and R&B, Pop, and even the perfect T-Swift songs. Their friends, family, and co-workers from Disney and Target were a fun bunch to keep on the dance floor. Sean and Chelsea are craft beer enthusiasts as well so they served an array of local craft beers from San Diego and Orange County. The night was a huge success and we loved being a part of it.

**DJ tip--When Sean called Michael with a special request to play a few last minute songs, Michael had to download and and listen to the songs during the setup. But instead of simply playing the songs, Michael had to make sure that the song fit the mood of the crowd and then played it when it was appropriate.**

7 Tips to Help You Make Your Wedding Day a Reflection of Who You Are

7 Tips to Help You Make Your Wedding Day a Reflection of Who You Are

Congratulations! You're engaged, and you're ready to start planning your wedding. How do you plan a wedding that clearly reflects who you are? Here are a few tips.

San Diego Outdoor Wedding Venue Spotlight

Outdoor Wedding Venue

Are you thinking about holding your wedding in the North County, San Diego area? San Diego is one of the sunniest places in the US. On average, there are 220 sunny days each year. So you picked a great area for an outdoor wedding.

Would you like a venue that is not only beautiful but also unique? If so, check out the San Diego Botanic Garden. You can hold your wedding ceremony and reception at the gardens, and never leave to take photos elsewhere, either. The gardens make a beautiful backdrop.

Any Size Wedding

Whether you'd like a small, intimate wedding that includes those who are closest to you, or a larger wedding with 300 of your closest friends, the gardens can accommodate you.

Surrounded by tiled and adobe walls, the Walled Garden can accommodate up to 180 seated guests at your ceremony and 72 seated at tables for the ceremony. Having your ceremony in the walled garden means framing your wedding with a beautiful view. The historic Larabee House nearby adds another layer of character and is available for a variety of events.

The Victorian Gazebo Lawn is in the center of the gardens. It's a large lawn surrounded by trees and greenery. The gazebo itself provides the perfect backdrop and the opportunity for a quiet moment between you and your fiance after the ceremony.

The lawn can accommodate up to 300 seated guests during your ceremony and up to 200 guests seated at tables for the reception. Imagine dancing your first dance under the open sky.

Lawn House Garden can hold 60 seated guests for the ceremony and the same number seated at tables. If you plan to hold a cocktail reception, then you there is plenty of room for up to 150 guests.

The Lawn House Garden is a multi-level, gated area that ensures you and your guests' privacy. It's located adjacent to the Palm Canyon Rain Forest, which means that you can hear the soothing sounds of the waterfall in the rain forest, as well as see the beautiful tropical plants in the background.

Ask about the Waterfall View Deck for showers. It holds up to thirty guests.

Music and Dancing in Outdoor Spaces

Hire only the best to provide the soundtrack for your outdoor wedding. How do you know if someone is the best? Start by asking about their past experience. Ask how many outdoor weddings they have DJ'd. Look at their reviews.

Lighting and sound for outdoor weddings requires a different setup. Sound (and lights) in an indoor venue bounces off of surfaces such as walls and ceilings. In an outdoor space, there isn't anything for the sound or light to bounce off of. So, it's important to hire a professional who understands the differences and the nuances of providing quality sound outdoors, and has the equipment to make the appropriate adjustments.

If you have your heart set on an outdoor space such as the gardens, ask the venue who they recommend as vendors. They will know who has worked well in the space and who hasn't. Many outdoor venues must follow the local noise ordinances and prefer to work with DJs who have experience following the guidelines.

Behind the DJ Booth is a preferred vendor for the San Diego Botanic Gardens. If you're interested in using San Diego Botanic Gardens for your wedding, then I would be happy to discuss your wedding with you.

It's Your Day

No matter where you hold your wedding or who you hire to provide you with music, your wedding is about you. Choose someone who understands that and makes an effort to get to know you. Choose someone whose tastes align with yours whether that be the caterer, photographer, or florist. Your day should reflect who you are.
